Ficohsa Group and the United States promote «dignified classrooms» to ensure educational quality in Honduras.

The Ficohsa Financial Group and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have inaugurated the first renovation of a school in Honduras as part of the Alliance for Education. This initiative seeks to support educational reform and improve school infrastructure in the country with the aim of providing children with an appropriate environment for their growth and learning.

During the inauguration, Juan Carlos Atala, the President of the Ficohsa Foundation, emphasized the importance of supporting education, given that the future of Honduras lies in its young students. In turn, the US Ambassador to Tegucigalpa, Laura F. Dogu, underscored the importance of all children having excellent conditions in their schools and highlighted the work of the Alliance for Education throughout the country.

The rehabilitation of educational centers seeks to create a better environment for children’s learning, and at the Ernesto Mendoza school in Tegucigalpa, the roofing, electrical system, water and sanitation system, lighting, and painting of the entire infrastructure were upgraded. In the next two years, the Ficohsa Foundation plans to renovate 25 schools, with an investment of around one million dollars, benefiting 10,700 students and their teachers.

Camilo Atala, the President of the Ficohsa Financial Group, emphasized that education is one of the institution’s main pillars, and they will continue to participate in projects that promote the well-being of Hondurans. The US Ambassador advocated for joint work to improve the conditions of educational centers in the country and highlighted Ficohsa’s work.

The Ficohsa Foundation has supported the education of more than 157,000 children in 150 educational centers in Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Panama, and will continue working on projects to improve educational quality in the region. Education is the foundation for the sustainable development of society and what drives a prosperous, equitable, and full of opportunities future for everyone.
